Looking for a place to host a large or small meeting? Or perhaps you are planning a reception or need a rehearsal room with great acoustics. The Miners' Museum can help with its cost effective rental space.

The Men of the Deeps Theatre seats 150 people comfortably and may be used for presentations, meetings and other special events. Our executive boardroom, located on level two of the Museum building, is also available for rental.

Photographic
Our photograph collection consists of photographs of coal collieries on Cape Breton Island, including underground workings, coal miners and officials. Highlights of the collection include photographs by Leslie Sheddon, Dominion Coal Company photographer. The photographs are accessible by subject, through manual and automated systems.

Research Services
The Museum responds to research inquiries. Approximately 1/2 hour of research will be done without charge.

Duplicating Services
Photocopying and photographic reproduction services are available. Fees quoted upon request.

Publication Fees
Fees for educational purposes are waived. Fees for commercial or non-scholarly purposes are available upon request.





 

In 1873, there were eight coal companies operating in Cape Breton. The miners were paid from 80 cents to $1.50 per day and boys were paid 65 cents.
