"The concert hall is empty, the resonance of the last chord has long since faded into stillness. One by one the Men of the Deeps have gone back to their families, to their homes, to their livelihood. Their work is so intertwined with their music that one cannot fully appreciate a performance without understanding something of the miner."

Allister MacGillivray
